Planned Absences

We encourage families to plan holidays and special events outside of term time where possible.
If your child will be away from school for more than one week, please email the Principal at principal@taipa.school.nz with details of the absence and the expected dates.

Reporting an Absence

If your child is going to be away from school, please let us know as soon as possible:

You can leave a message at any time.

If we haven’t been notified of an absence, we will attempt to contact you via text, phone call, or email. Ongoing unexplained absences may result in a referral to Attendance Services.

If a student is absent for three or more days, the students caregivers’ must supply a doctor’s certificate explaining their absence from school.

Please note: We cannot release students early without direct contact from a parent or caregiver.

Leaving School Grounds at Lunchtime

Only Year 13 students and student council members are permitted to leave the school grounds at lunchtime. They must sign out and back in at the school office.

No other students are permitted to leave school grounds during the day, including to visit the shops. Requests for exceptions will not be approved.

Feeling Unwell at School

If a student is feeling sick during the school day, they should let their teacher know and go to the Sickbay. Our office staff will assess them and contact caregivers if needed.

Please remind your child not to contact you directly about illness during the school day. This helps us manage student well-being and maintain safety procedures.
